Breakout Player: Buddy Hield Oklahoma Sooners

buddy hieldIf you talk to Big 12 coaches and NBA scouts about who could be the league’s next potential star, it is Hield. The 6-4 native of the Bahamas plays the game with exuberance and flare. Between his 3-point-shooting touch and whirling dervish drives to the basket, he has become one of the league’s most exciting players.

Hield, who played his high school basketball in Wichita, Kan., was not a heavily recruited player. But after contributing as a Sooner freshman, he blossomed as a sophomore, averaging 16.5 points on 38.6 percent shooting behind the arc. His continued improvement bodes well for a young but improving Sooners’ team.
